Our Practical Exams

(written : Sultan)
We had our Skipper Practical Exams in February 2013 and both me and Dad got our Skipper's license. The exams went smoothly.

Prior to taking the oral test, we had to choose a location for our practicals. Since we live in the north, we chose to take our exam at the Grand Baie Yatch Club Pontoon.

When we got the Results for our theory exams, we also received a temporary skipper's license which allowed us to operate a pleasure craft under the guidance of a licensed skipper. Luckily for us, we have a friend living in Grand Baie called Ashok who owns a boat there and is used to taking people on tours around the north of the island's beaches. We went to train for motor boat handling with him regularly until the date of the practical exams.

On the day of the exams, we got there very early and had a few runs in the boat of Mr Ashok. We got to de-stress a bit before the examiner came around and we also came to know the weather and sea current conditions of the day so as not to have any nasty surprise during the examinations.
