Prior to building our boat, we had only had a dream to own one some day in the distant future and until a few years ago, boating was just a passion of dad's and that was all.
It all started in early 2011. Dad had bought online a book by Helen MacArthur called "Taking on the World" where she describes how boats have always fascinated her from a most tender age and how she got involved in building and racing a large number of boats. After reading this first book, we almost immediately moved to her second book "Race Against time".

By that time, we had already changed our view about boats completely, from a distant dream for the far future, owning and operating a boat became a vivid dream that we really wanted to realize.
Then followed a number of other ones, such as :
> A dip in the Ocean (Rowing solo across the Indian) by Sarah Outen.
This is the story of a girl who undertakes to row solo from Australia to Mauritius across the Indian Ocean. It is a really nice story about courage, passion and love for the sea and makes a really nice read.
>Bernard Moitessier.
Bernard was a great navigator who has made more than one circumnavigation and relates it all in two WONDERFULLY WRITTEN books named "Vagabond des mers du Sud" and "La longue Route". Only sad thing is that to really appreciate the beauty of the masterpiece, you have to read it in french.
> Tara Tari
This book is about the adventures of a very courageous young guy named Corentin De Chatelperron. While he was studying for his engineering his courses, he tried to prove that one could build a viable boat out of jute fiber, a plant very common in Bangladesh. He tried doing it with two main goals: improving the life of fishermen and also of people from the agricultural sector, hereby achieving two goals with one project. He then sailed it from Bangladesh to France.
He wrote a very interesting and instructive book. The main power of the book is also that he had absolutely no knowledge about boats and navigation when he embarked on such a project. His books is thus completely filled with tips and tricks about how to deal with boating problems from the point of view of a complete novice and that makes a nice read.
Nowadays, the boat Tara Tari has been taken up and renovated by a girl named Capucine Trochet and is being used to cross the Atlantic. Link to her blog below:
