The tools of the trade and their use

A Brief description of the tools that were used for the construction of the boat.

List of tools:

We bought it from the USA and we're going to be using it with a small transformer to get 120v supply from our 240 v mains.

We tried the SawMax and are very satisfied with it. It provides very fast and smooth cuts for our wooden parts. However, the amount of noise generated and the dust it creates discouraged us to use it for long periods of time as it would bring problems with the neighbours and might bring health issues for ourselves.

For the dust, the saw comes with a special adapter that can be used to to connect it to a vacuum cleaner. Thus, it brings on even more noise and a lot of wires and power lines all around. So we decided to only use it when we simply must, like when doing the bulkheads; for that application the Sawmax is simply vital.

> Rockwell SoniCrafter Oscillating Tool

This tool is  quite useful as it has an adaptable vibrating head that can be used to go into nooks and crannies that would otherwise be unreachable for our conventional tools. It has been particularly useful for sanding under the small wood reinforcements we placed all around the boat.

Like the sawmax, this tool also operates on 110v so we're using it on our transformer as power supply for it.

> Tefal kitchen Scale

This is the little hero of the project of boat building. Right from the first gram of glue we used this kitchen scale has been reliably measuring out our weights of epoxy and hardener to use. It has proven very tough. We keep it in a plastic bag during use to prevent ruining it in case of epoxy dripping.
