For the past few years, dad has been regularly going to the marina in Port Louis harbour to admire the boats and yatches on mooring there. One day in 2011, he saw a man had put up a notice about needing a crew member to accompany him to Reunion Island then to Madagascar. He decided to go for it once getting to know the man a little more.
The man was a former mechanical engineer from Holland named Bram. His wife had been suddenly taken ill and had to go back to Holland and he was left alone to finish his circumnavigation and bring the boat back Home. So he needed a crew member for at least part of the voyage on his boat called "Saluut"
In August he embarked together with my cousin Adji who decided to accompany them to Reunion Island and then come back by plane to Mauritius. Adji lives in Grand baie and owns a hardware store there.

In Reunion Island, dad and Adji met up with a friend of Bram named "Jacques". Jacques was a really nice person and took them to visit and discover all the wonders of his Island. After a whole week driving all round the mountainous terrain, they were completely exhausted but the happiest people on Earth.
Point to be noted : Jacques is now on his own circumnavigation with his little brother and two other friends on a beautiful ketch named "Miss Lily". Their average age is over 60 and when they departed from Reunion Island they had an accumulated age of over 240 years.

Then Adji left them for Mauritius to get back to his work here.

Saluut is now in Greece undergoing some minor retouching to its steel outer skin and keel. Bram and his wife have been re-united and are now living happily in Greece where they are going to buy a new house.
